Project Rx

Rx
Project Rx

The primary aim of Project Rx is to understand the social and cultural contexts underlying non-medical prescription drug use among young adults. This project has 2 key phases. During Phase 1 of the project, currently underway, the ethnographic field team has immersed themselves in various bars, nightclubs, and other key venues in order to understand how various subcultures shape the use of prescription drugs by young adults. Phase 2 will involve the recruitment of 400 young adults (aged 18 to 29) to participate in a computer assisted survey and an in-depth interview about their non-medical use of prescription drugs. These young adults will take follow-up surveys conducted on-line at 6-months and 12-months after the original assessment.
